With you in mind, we designed our courses to be part-time so they fit around modern busy lifestyles and commitments to work and family, and our support system will help ensure that you achieve your qualification. The courses on offer at Cardiff are the Level 3 Certificate in Introduction to Counselling Skills, Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory and Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. Students can pay for the courses either upfront in advance (with discounts available) or through interest-free monthly instalments.
Please note that Chrysalis Not For Profit Ltd is not part of University Hall. We are fortunate enough to be able to hire training facilities at University Hall to run our various courses.

Our courses are validated by The Prince's Trust and listed on Ofqual's Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF. Having our courses listed on the RQF, means that the qualifications achieved are true Level 3 Certificates, Level 4 Diplomas, and Level 5 Diplomas and not just mapped to a level. Furthermore, all our courses are either Quality Checked or Accredited by the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society, a Professional Standards Authority accredited register, meaning the course content and delivery have undergone a level of scrutiny to meet high external national standards.
Learners successfully graduating from our 3-year Core Counselling Programme will receive The Prince's Trust Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Practice (RQF), along with Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in years 1 & 2. This Level 5 Diploma is a professional practice qualification enabling you to apply for registration with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society, and to set up professional practice and apply for employment as a counsellor.
Please note: Chrysalis is trialling a NEW Level 3 Certificate in Introduction to Counselling Skills in Cardiff.
Please be aware that Course 1, Chrysalis Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills will be replaced in this venue by the Chrysalis Certificate in Introduction to Counselling Skills.
This 6-month introductory course is the perfect start to begin your journey to becoming a counsellor and be recognised for your therapeutic skills. The course is validated by The Prince's Trust and listed on Ofqual's Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at Level 3. And, if your goal is full training as a professional counsellor, this course gives you a route to our Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory, which in turn is a route to our full professional counselling training at Level 5.
Our unique training provides enjoyable and insightful exercises, tutor-led discussions, and reflections to build your skills and self-awareness. This qualification is not only a first step to a counselling career but is also excellent professional development for anyone working in person-facing roles.

During this 1-year Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Skills & Theory course you will make great progress towards becoming a counsellor. As the second year of a three-year, part-time training course, you will develop all the necessary skills of counselling, begin your journey of self-awareness and personal development, and gain understanding of the major approaches to talking therapies which supports the work of counselling.
Our unique training incorporates a core Pluralistic framework, within which you learn that different methods suit different clients and different presenting issues at different times. Training supports you to learn a range of skills and Insights to best support future clients. This is a contemporary approach acknowledging the vital contribution played by many in the development of counselling and psychotherapy while drawing on a strong evidence base to support best practice
In this third and final year of your part-time training course, you will enhance and develop deeper understanding of the work of counselling and perfect your skills through a supervised agency placement, supported by your in-class training. You gain full understanding of working ethically and professionally with clients along with gaining knowledge of different issues clients need support to work through. Training Incorporates deeper knowledge of key therapy approaches within a Pluralistic framework, along with a deeper awareness of self and the therapeutic relationship.
